Betcha didn’t think a newsletter was coming today—well JOKES ON YOU I’m actually writing one this week and doing it on time! Who’s FOOLIN’ NOW?!
Politics
So Joe Biden has recently been uncovered as a problematic dude (although, one could argue that the behavior described in the article is not too surprising given his previous “creepy” behaviors). Biden also happens to be featured in the dating app photo of every other f*ckboi swiping on Tinder/Bumble/etc.
International
Different treatment: Poland has resisted EU quotas to take in asylum seekers from the Middle East, but have welcomed Ukrainian migrants in the “biggest wave of migration into the European Union in recent times.”
What happened to Fan Bingbing? I’ve featured her on this newsletter before—a Chinese movie star on the rise, only to disappear for not paying enough taxes and then re-appear touting the Chinese government’s message. This deep dive gives a closer look into what happened.
I forgot to include this link in the last newsletter: If you’re still interested in reading about the K-Pop stars caught up in South Korea’s own #MeToo movement, click here.
Culture
This immigrant family’s tale on finances really hit home for me. I remember growing up and my parents constantly trying to teach me how to handle money and what to do with it in the future. Did I listen? No… (Let’s not talk about how I handled money in college). Now, however, I consider myself a pretty money-minded 22-year-old who loves chatting/researching personal finance. I definitely have my parents to thank for that!
Boys? Being confronted and punished for their actions? How revolutionary. When these girls caught wind that boys were ranking them, they decided to stand up and tell them to their faces how wrong they were and why.
Runway wars (Biz Read): Two rental clothing startups—Rent the Runway and Fashion Pass—are currently in a legal battle, with Fashion Pass claiming RTR is creating a monopoly in the fashion rental space.
Speaking of fashion: Famous Manhattan fake-money socialite Anna Delvey is somehow paying a stylist to dress her up for her days in court.
Another fashion link: It looks like sustainable fashion is here to stay!
What’s in a name?: The vanity license plates people have tried to get are pretty funny, and the DMV’s comical approval/denial process is the cherry on top.
Hope you guys don’t get pranked today…
See you on the flip!
